Westgate Car Park reduces car parking charges

Cheaper city centre parking is on the way at the Westgate car park, next to the Oastler Centre.

Following the decision by Morrisons to close their supermarket on Westgate in April this year, Bradford Council have carried out a survey to establish how their decision has affected the use of the adjacent multi-storey car parkand identify the typical length of stay, turnover of spaces and occupancy of each floor of the car park.

After considering the survey results, as well as the results from a structural survey, it has been decided to close the top two floors of the car park and amend the charges for the remaining floor.

The charge for parking will be reduced from 60p an hour to only 50p an hour and after 3pm parking is free. To encourage more shoppers to use the car park then parking will limited to a maximum of three hours with long stay parking available in the neighbouring car park on Simes Street.

Any traders that have a long stay permit will be contacted by Parking Services and offered alternative parking locations.

It is expected these changes will takes place from Monday 5th December.
