Bradford Markets host festive entertainment in the lead up to Christmas

Festive fun is coming to markets across the district with a series of events organised in Bradford Council-run markets.

Family friendly workshops will run in Oastler Market on Saturday December 3 and 17, from 10.30am to 4pm on the Market Event Space. The free sessions will be delivered by Sponge Tree and will have a Feed the Birds theme, where children can get creative and create bird feeders with a variety of recycled and eco-friendly materials.

This is a great nature inspired activity for children 3+. The second workshop will run on December 17 and the theme will be Stick Christmas Trees and Stars, where children can craft handmade baubles or give as a gift to loved ones.

 

Tilly the Donkey will be honouring John Street with his presence on Saturday December 17 to give children a free ride from 11am -2pm. Families will need to get a free ticket from inside the Oastler Centre from traders, a list of participating traders will be on the ticket. Tilly will be with her handler outside the market main entrance on John Street.

 

This Christmas, ZooLab will be delivering an ethical animal encountering experience in the Oastler Event Space on Saturday 10 December between 12pm -3pm.

 

From stick insects, tarantula, scorpion, corn snake, giant millipedes, cockroaches, giant African land snail, tree frog, rat you can see them all and handle them in this workshop. Delivered by an experienced ZooLab ranger, this session is family friendly, interactive, educational, fun and engaging for children of all ages.

 

The Falling Stars Theatre will be delighting the market with a Christmas pop up performance of the Evil Snow Queen on Wednesday 21 December between 11am-4pm on the Event Space.

 

The magical journey begins with Grace who is on the quest to save her beloved Granny from the clutches of the evil Snow Queen. During the quest Grace meets an assortment of fantastical and wondrous characters. Graces manages to enhance the lives of the character she meets in the quiet and thoughtful way she makes them observe life through different eyes. A story of determination, courage, strength and adventure awaits. It will run every hour from 11am till 4pm on Wednesday 21st December.

 

There will also be free face painting inside Oastler on Saturday 3 and 17 December, the Salvation Army Band will perform on Saturday 17 December between 10am-12pm and Santa will be in his grotto on the Market Event Space on  10,17, 21, 23, 24th December from 11am to 3pm and will be doing walks down to Kirkgate Market.

 

Kirkgate Market will have the Salvation Army Band performing on Saturday 10 December between 10am -12pm at the display space inside the market. There will also be free face painting on Saturday 17 December between 11am – 3pm.

 

Keighley Market will also be getting people into the Christmas spirit with a series of activities and events on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December. Santa and his elves will be in his grotto, there will be face painting, a tombola raising money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and Dementia Friendly. Keighley Market will run festive workshops for children on Saturday December 10 and 17, from 10am to 4pm. Oakworth Primary School will be performing with the school choir in the market.
