Free Family Activities in the Market

The National Science & Media Museum are back on the road and inside the market this half term

Explore the wonders of space with science shows, bouncing astronauts, hands-on activities suitable for all ages and space story-time this half term inside the Oastler Market. 

The National Science and Media Museum will take over our Market Event Space (located opposite the fruit & veg stall) and our Market Pop-Up Cinema (at the back of the market) on Wednesday 14th February from 10am till 4pm. 

Timings for all the various activities are below, so whether you are launching into our market by rocket or shuttle, be sure that you will be greeted by some spacetastic astronauts, ready to take you around planet markets.

Experience space and light in a whole new way with this interactive live show. Discover how we use telescopes and satellites to explore our universe and how chemistry and colour can tell us about distant planets and stars.

Learn all about the first British Astronaut in space – Helen Sharman. Be prepared to come on an out of this world adventure and learn about how she used her excellent observation skills to learn about planet Earth.
