Our exciting plans for the city markets have been approved by the Council. The plans will be available to view online and at our stakeholder consultation events taking place at the end of October. Further details will be announced shortly.
We have put together an experienced design team to take our plans forward and create two vibrant modern market halls that will become hubs for independent food and non-food retailing excellence in Bradford City Centre.
Meet the team that will deliver the redevelopment of the Bradford City Centre Markets
Architects – Greig & Stephenson
Ken Greig – Director
Ken founded GSA with Nigel Stephenson in 1994.
Ken’s extensive experience is primarily in retail work both in shopping centres and markets.
Since working on the restoration and regeneration of Leeds Market, Ken has specialised in market regeneration for market authorities at Borough Market, Leicester, Hanley, Preston, Greenwich, and Camden.
Adam Parker – Architect
Adam is project Architect for Leicester Market Masterplan for Leicester City Council, with the latter phases of the work to the Grade II* Listed Corn Exchange, and outdoor market, currently being realised.
He has extensive experience in the delivery of comprehensive Masterplanning documents, with specific experience in the delivery of city centre developments – recently completing the new markets in Preston and Wolverhampton.
Project Management – Black Cat Building Consultancy
Eric Roberts – Director
Eric is a project manager and building surveyor with over 40 years’ experience and will provide the overall project management input for the project. He has recently completed a new STEM building valued at £9m via Framework Procurement for Preston’s College. He was also involved in Rochdale markets reconfiguration
Structural Engineers – Sanderson Watts Associates
Mark Hamer – Director
Mark has recently managed and provided technical lead for the £9.2 million re-development of Leicester Market and £4.9 million redevelopment of Wolverhampton Market working closely with Greig & Stephenson.
Robert Jones – Project Engineer
Rob is the Project Engineer on Phase 2 of Leicester Market and has been closely involved in the planning and delivery of key elements. He has gained vital experience in stakeholder management and has been instrumental in helping plan areas of work into the different design phases of the project.
Mechanical & Electrical Engineers – IWP Consulting
Ian Williams – Electro/Mechanical Engineer
With a fully indentured electrical engineering apprenticeship in industry as a background, Ian was a director of the Midlands practice Philip Thomas and Partners for 7 years and founded IWP in 1992. Ian has 32 years of experience in the Building Services Consultancy field.
Chartered Quantity Surveyors – Tozer Gallagher LLP
Bill Ibram – Partner
Bill has been responsible for the delivery of quantity surveying, cost management and employer’s agent services on a varied range of new build and refurbishment projects with values up to £200m.
His proficiency is soundly based on his 30 plus years experience of providing hands on services on a diverse range of projects in the commercial and public sectors.
Danny Speakman – Associate
Danny has worked for Tozer Gallagher for over 18 years delivering high quality quantity surveying services to clients.
He has extensive experience of working on a variety of new build and refurbishment projects in the retail sector.
Marketing & Branding – CreativeRace
Nicola Carey – Strategy Director
Nicola Carey started her strategy consulting career at brand consultancy Sparkler. Clients here included the BBC, Cancer Research UK, Diageo and EE.
Nicola moved to Jaywing in 2013, where she was Strategy Director for 3 years. In that time she worked with Sheffield City Council/ Marketing Sheffield on their destination management strategy, as well as The British Medical Association. Nicola was a vital linchpin in the strategic delivery of Hull 2017 UK City of Culture, a relationship that continued when she moved to CreativeRace as Strategy Director in April 2017.
Nicola has an MSc in Strategy and Business Management (University of Bristol) and is professionally trained in Moderation, Presentation and Stakeholder Management.
Nicola will lead the project overall and is responsible for developing the strategy and leading the creation of outputs.
Steve Rowe – Design Director
Steve Rowe is a Design Director with 20+ years industry experience, who has a proven track record across client-side, design and full-service agencies. He started his career working within the press industry before his career took him over to retail brand Mamas & Papas in 2000, where he rebranded and helped build the brand to global status.
He moved agency side in 2005, to Osmosis Brand Communications as a designer specialising in brand development of large global solicitors, clients also included the NHS and MIMA Museum.
In 2010 he moved to Truth Design agency as Senior Design working with FMCG, retail and lifestyle brands before moving to Danish-owned Agency Spring, working up to a Creative Director. His work included the rebrand of Manchester Architects, Aarhus City Vest brand development, Sheffield University and Sports Coach UK.
Steve has a passion for design enabling an ability to lead from the front – encompassing strategy and conceptual work through to every aspect of delivery against the brief. He specialises in brand development, corporate identity, typography, packaging and photography art direction.
Steve leads the design team and will be responsible for developing and leading all aspects of any design output.
