The ‘We Are Here’ project celebrates the unique history, communities and stories of the market, taking participants on a journey of discovery and the culture of Bradford through the market.

You may have already seen the new dedicated events space that we have created in the middle of the market, it’s now complete and ready in time for our Christmas programme! We intend the space to be used for various promotional events, ‘pop up’ test trading, product launches or general awareness/fundraising campaigns throughout the year.
The Council have been working with local bus company TLC to make it easier for people to get to the Oastler Market. A new shuttle bus service is being launched that will run between the Interchange and the Oastler Market at the top of town. An initiative welcomed both by traders and shoppers, should see an increase in footfall in both city centre markets. Read More

The Summer Arts & Crafts Fair in the Oastler Centre went down very well with local children with the help of the Young Masters Visual Art School. Gemma and Sharon from YM collected scrap from market traders for children to shape, paint, sell and play mini market traders in a mini stall! The stall resembled a mini creche and we look forward to hosting more childrens activities by Young Masters. Read More

Celebrating the work of local watercolour artist, Barry Langroyd Hanson, the market will exhibit his stunning paintings of Bradford and Cameroon. The paintings are all up for sale and any enquires can come directly through to Khansa Tufail at Markets Office. There will also be prints and greeting cards from Barry on sale and he will be on the stall painting live on the day. Read More
Wur Bradford, our resident local artists based in Kirkgate Market, recently hosted a guided Food Walk and Poetry Trail inside the Oastler Centre. A group of people were led through the market to sample delicious tasters from various food traders including Roswitas Deli, Thai Noodle Bar and Solly Foods.Read More
A new initiative to animate the top end of City Centre and drive footfall up Darley Street will see a range of activities and events take place this month. Bradford Council is staging a free programme of events for young families at the top of Bradford city centre this March and April. Read More

Over the past few months, we have worked with local artists, Jean Mcewan and Chemaine Cooke from Wur Bradford on various projects that aim to create a sense of ambience and atmosphere in the markets.
